App Spotlights

App Spotlights are an additional way to customize your content by making a information full-width across the app. Highlights are arranged in tiled rows, and Spotlights are full-width in a carousel. Spotlight key information with a simple enlarged image and a call-to-action button.

  • A Highlight within a Spotlight Section can have a Call to Action button shown on the App Home Screen.
  • Spotlight Sections can have one (typical) or multiple highlights in them. If multiple, the first highlight shown will be random each time you load the app.

Creating App Spotlights

App Spotlights are created at the section level, not through an individual highlight. Create a Spotlight section even if you would would like to spotlight only one highlight.

  1. Navigate to the App Home Screen page of the Engage module.
  2. Click on +New Section in the top right corner.
  3. Fill out the form using
    • Section Type:
      • Row Section: traditional Highlight orientation (Highlights arranged in tiles in a row)
      • Spotlight Section: NEW Highlight orientation (Highlights are full-width in a carousel)
    • Section Title: Name your Highlight section (this will be visible on the app). Create themed Spotlight Sections that showcase multiple highlights (eg- Fitness), or single highlights (individual amenities).
    • Status:
      • Active: Highlight section and all highlights in the section are active and visible to users
      • Hidden: Highlight section and all highlights in the section are not visible to users
    • Highlight Screen (App Screen): If you would like to link a new App Screen to this Spotlight, choose it from the dropdown menu. If you would like to link to a traditional Highlight on the home page, leave it set to Home Screen (Default).

    • User Tag Visibility:
      • Visible To All Users (Default): This highlight will be visible to all users, regardless of user tags.
      • Only Visible To Specified User Tags: Select this option to show this Highlight Section to only specific user groups. Once you select this option, a dropdown menu will appear with all pre-created user tags. Select as many user tags as desired.

  1. Click Save.

Adding Highlights to a Spotlight Section

Once you have a Spotlight Section created (above steps), you can now add Highlights to that section.

  1. Follow these steps to create a highlight.
  2. Choose the new Highlight Section you just created from the Highlight Section dropdown menu at the top.

Additionally, you can move existing highlights to a Spotlight Section.

  1. Navigate to Highlights, then Mobile Highlights.
  2. Click on the edit (pencil) icon on the individual Highlight you would like to move.
  3. From the Site Visibility section at the top of the form, choose the appropriate Spotlight Section from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Save.
