Completion Requirements let Building Admins define what information must be captured on a Work Order before it can be marked Complete or Closed. When a requirement is enabled, Cove blocks completion until those details are logged, creating more consistent records for billing and reporting. In this article we will discuss:
- available Completion Requirements
- enabling Completion Requirements
- how requirements are enforced
- bulk completion behavior
Available Completion Requirements
Three requirements can be enabled individually or in any combination:
- Require Labor Hours: labor hours must be logged on the Work Order before it can be completed.
- Require Notes: at least one note must be added to the Work Order before it can be completed.
- Require Mileage: mileage must be logged on the Work Order before it can be completed.
Enabling Completion Requirements
Completion Requirements are configured by Building Admins from Work Order Setup. Enable the requirements you want enforced and save your changes. Requirements apply to the building they are configured for and take effect immediately on the next completion attempt.
How Requirements Are Enforced
Requirements are enforced everywhere completion happens, on both the Dashboard and mobile, whenever a user attempts to move a Work Order to Complete or Closed. If any required information is missing, the status change is blocked, and the user is shown what still needs to be captured. Once the missing details are added, the Work Order can be completed as usual.
Bulk Completion
Requirements also apply to bulk completion from Dashboard tables. Each Work Order in the selection is evaluated independently: Work Orders that meet the enabled requirements are completed, and those that do not remain in their current status. A results message identifies which Work Orders were blocked and the requirement each one is missing, so they can be updated and completed.
