Travel Management: Logging and Tracking Mileage on Work Orders

Travel Management lets field teams log mileage against Work Orders, separately from labor time. Once enabled for a site, engineers and admins can record miles driven, view travel history, and see mileage totals alongside labor hours.

Enabling Travel for a Site

Note: Travel is supported for Work Orders only

Please reach out to CSM or Support to get Travel enabled at your site.

Logging Travel on the Dashboard
Once enabled, a Travel tab appears on the Work Order detail view alongside Labor, Materials, POs, and Invoice. From this tab, users can add a new travel entry with the following fields: Miles Driven (required), Performed By (required, defaults to the current user), Date Worked (required, defaults to today), and optional Start Location and End Location. Travel entries are independent of labor entries — a travel entry can be saved with or without an associated labor entry. The Travel tab displays all entries in a table (Date Worked, Performed By, Mileage, Start Location, End Location) and supports searching, filtering, editing, and deleting entries. In addition to Security Managers, Engineering Managers, Business Executives, and Business Administrators can also manage travel entries.

Logging Travel on Mobile
On mobile, Travel appears as a category in the Work Log when enabled for the site. It follows the same interaction pattern as other Work Log categories: an empty category shows an "Add" action, while existing entries show a count and can be expanded for review. Users can create, edit, and delete travel entries directly from the Work Log, and entries save independently from labor.

Viewing Mileage Totals
On mobile, the "My Labor Hours" card and screen now also display Total Mileage alongside Total Hours, based on the selected date range, giving field employees a quick view of their logged travel alongside their labor hours.

Activity Feed
Adding, editing, or deleting a travel entry generates a corresponding event (Travel Added, Travel Updated, or Travel Deleted) in the Work Order Activity feed, showing who performed the travel, the date, miles driven, and start/end locations when provided.
