Mobile engineers, also known as roving or field technicians, move throughout a portfolio from building to building, responding to work orders, completing preventive maintenance and inspections across multiple properties at once. The result can be losing track of priorities, or relying on notebooks and informal communication. Cove's Mobile Engineer Experience solves that.

If you are a Building Engineer assigned to multiple properties within a network, the Snapshot tab appears automatically in your mobile app. No additional setup is required. From there, you can:

  • See open work orders, maintenance tasks, and inspections organized by property
  • Drill into the specific items assigned to you or your groups at any location

To access the Mobile Engineer Experience, select your network from the site selector in top left of the app rather than an individual property. The Snapshot tab will appear in your bottom navigation. If you select a single site, your experience is unchanged and only the Work tab will appear.

Property teams can also create tickets and assign them to specific properties at the network level, and those items will appear immediately in the relevant engineer's view.


The Snapshot Tab

The Snapshot tab is the home base for the Mobile Engineer Experience. It displays all properties in your network as a vertical list, sorted alphabetically by site name. Tap any property to expand it and see key stats broken down by type.

Each expanded property row shows two sets of stats:

  • Work Orders Key Stats: items assigned to you, items in your groups, and total open work orders at that site
  • Maintenance Key Stats: items assigned to you, items in your groups, and total open tasks at that site

Tapping any stat tile takes you directly to the filtered list of items it represents.


Filtering by Type

A Type dropdown at the top of the Snapshot tab lets you focus on one or more categories of work at a time. Click the Type dropdown to open the filter and select from:

  • Work Orders
  • Maintenance
  • Inspections

At least one type must remain selected at all times. Click Reset to return all three. Your selection persists as you navigate within the app during your session.
