Amenity Reservations and Time Zone Behavior

Amenity reservations allow users to book shared spaces based on the amenity’s operating hours, which always follow the property’s local time zone. When someone books from a different time zone, they select a time using their own device’s time zone, and the reservation is then converted into the property’s time zone for display in the Dashboard. As a result, the time a user selects may look different once it is shown in the property’s local time.

Because the Dashboard consistently displays reservation times in the property’s time zone, bookings made from another location simply reflect the time difference when converted. For example, a user in New York may select 12:00pm–1:00pm on their device, and the reservation will appear in the Dashboard as 9:00am–10:00am for a property in Los Angeles. Both views are accurate and the time is displayed according to each location’s time zone.


How Time Zones Affect Reservations

• Amenity operating hours are always defined in the property’s local time zone.
• Users select reservation times based on their own device’s time zone.
• After submission, the reservation converts into the property’s time zone and displays that way in the Dashboard.

Because of this, reservation times can look different depending on where the user is located.

Example

A user outside the property’s time zone selects 12:00pm–5:00pm on their screen.
Once converted into the property’s time zone, the reservation may appear as 12:00am–5:00am to the property team.


Time Zone Reminder in the Dashboard

When booking an amenity from a different time zone than the property, the Dashboard displays a reminder that shows:

• The property’s time zone
• The user’s device time zone
• The time difference between them


Troubleshooting

If you are booking from a different time zone, you may be selecting a time that has not yet started in the property’s local time. For example, if it is 6:00am Pacific Time and you try to book a 9:00am Eastern Time reservation, the amenity is not yet open in its local time zone. Because the system follows the property’s operating hours, the reservation cannot be created until that time arrives.

If you need to book the space earlier than that, you can either wait until the amenity’s local operating hours begin or contact the property team, who can create the reservation on your behalf.
