If your building uses OpenPath Access Control and it’s integrated with your building’s app, you can use the app instead of a key fob. Look for the Access tab —this serves as your MobilePass, which enables you to use your phone to enter the main areas of the building. Please note that access to your individual office suite may not be supported through the app.

What is a MobilePass?
A MobilePass is a mobile credential is a virtual key fob. It is personal to you and connected to your record in the Openpath system. It is meant to be singular and secure. The mobile credential can only be “valid” on one device.
You do not need to download any other app for your building. Your building app will be the designated all-in-one app.
Setup Mobile Pass
To set up the mobile pass for your building. You must first download the building’s app. After downloading and logging into the app, you can find the Access tab. Once in the tab, click Set Up Mobile Pass Now. Make sure to follow the prompts. Check that all permissions in your phone settings are correct.
After you complete your setup, you should see a list of readers/entries to which you have access. You should now be able to open the listed readers with your phone.
Please note: If you do not have access to any entries. Contact the property team to update the correct requirements in the OpenPath Control Center.
App Permissions
To make the mobile pass function properly on your phone, keep Bluetooth and Location set to Always On.
Bluetooth Permissions
The building app needs Bluetooth access, and your Bluetooth must be on. This allows the app to connect with the readers. This is because the readers are Bluetooth readers.
- Allow the app to access Bluetooth.
- You must turn on Bluetooth to access the reader. This is how the App unlocks doors wirelessly.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
Location Permission Settings:
The building app needs your location. This helps the app find the nearest reader. Secure buildings will require you to be near a reader in order to unlock it.
- To use the app to unlock doors without opening the app, you must grant "Always" location settings to the app.
- If choose "While Using" for location settings, you will need to open the app each time to unlock readers.
Motion & Fitness Access (iOS Only):
The building app will also ask if you would like to grant Motion & Fitness access. This is not required but recommended for battery life.
Visitor Management with Openpath
Once you register a visitor. They will receive an email with visit details and instructions. Inside the instructions will be an Openpath access button. This will allow the visitor to use their phone on the building entries.
Always have the visitor follow the instructions in their email as there may be additional steps when visiting your building.
Notes:
- Visitors will not need to download the app.
- The guess pass includes buttons to unlock building entries to the building.
- Guest passes are temporary and access windows are 2 hours before and after the registered time.
Timed Access for Reservations
If your building has amenities that are locked outside of reserving the space. The doors will automatically unlock once you book the space based on your reservation.
For example, if a conference room has locked doors, they can be set to unlock automatically during a scheduled booking. This reduces the need for property teams to manually manage access and helps ensure that large events run smoothly without additional coordination.
