Floors, suites, and suite types form the location framework for your entire property in Cove. Buildings are created during onboarding by your Cove team, and floors and suites are built out within them to reflect your property's physical layout.
Every work order, maintenance task, and inspection is tied to a specific location. The floors and suites you configure here populate the location dropdowns across those modules. When you assign floors and suites to a tenant organization, those locations become the options that tenant sees when submitting requests.
Keeping your location data complete and accurate ensures work orders reach the right team, charges are associated to the right tenant, and your reporting reflects a true picture of activity across your property. For properties with multiple buildings, adding a building address ensures visitors receive the correct building address in their invitation email rather than the general site address.

Add Manually
When adding floors, suite types, and suites manually, we recommend doing so in this order:
Add Floors
- Click + Add Floor in the upper right corner.
- Select the appropriate building from the dropdown menu.
- Name the floor.
- Click Save. This floor will now appear in the Floors tab of the Buildings, Floors, and Suites table.
Add Suite Types
Use suite types to determine suite visibility and control the availability of locations in which tenants can submit work order requests. Create dynamic routing for inspections so the platform can identify locations that need to be inspected based on the suite type association.
- Click + Add Suite Type in the upper right corner.
- Name the suite type. Examples: common area, mechanical room, restroom, stairwell, tenant unit.
- Determine suite visibility. This setting defines which users can create work orders in this suite:
- Shared: any tenant user
- Tenant: only tenants occupying this suite
- Internal: only users on the building team
- Click Save. This suite type will now appear in the Suite Type tab of the Buildings, Floors, and Suites table.
Add Suites
- Click + Add Suite in the upper right corner.

Adding a Building Address
To add or update a building address, click the edit icon on the building row you want to update. The Edit Building drawer will open with the following fields:
- Name: The building name.
- External Billing ID: Optional. Used for accounting integrations.
- Building Address: Leave blank unless this building has a unique address that differs from the site address. If the property has multiple buildings with different addresses, fill out all fields: Address, City, State, and ZIP Code.
Note: If no building address is added, visitor invitation emails will default to the general site address. When a building address is configured, visitors whose host is located in that building will receive the specific building address in their invitation email.
Click Save.
Bulk Upload
Use the bulk upload to add floors, suites, and suite types in one step rather than adding them individually.
Note: The bulk upload is for creating new records only, not updating existing ones.
- Navigate to Property Setup > Buildings, Floors, and Suites and click Upload Floors & Suites.
- Click Download Template and follow the instructions in the template to fill in your floor, suite, and suite type data.
- Export the completed sheet as a .CSV file.
- Click Upload Floors and Suites, follow the prompts as your file is scanned, and correct any errors if needed before re-uploading.
Delete Buildings, Floors, and Suites
To delete a building, floor, or suite, click the trash icon next to each.
- Prior to deleting a building, first remove the associated floor(s) and suite(s) from that building.
