Community Surveys

As the face of your property team, you know that satisfied tenants stay longer, recommend your building to their peers, and contribute to your community environment. Cove's new survey feature will allow you to quickly and easily create in-app surveys - providing you with actionable insights and fresh perspectives from your tenants.

Cove supports two types of surveys:

  • Standard Surveys, where results are visible to the internal team only, and
  • Community Surveys, where other users can see results in the app.

Surveys are a critical tool for creating a great tenant experience, allowing you to collect feedback, assess satisfaction, measure success, and address concerns.

Additionally, you can learn more about how to use Cove’s survey feature here:

Community Survey

Unlike Standard Surveys, Community Surveys let tenants see the results within the app — making them great for building a sense of community and gathering input tenants can see reflected back. Community Surveys use simple, easy-to-scan question types (multiple choice and multi-checkbox) so tenants can quickly see how their answers compare to the community's — see the example below.

  • Posting a Survey Directly to the Homepage
    • Community Surveys can now be posted directly to the app Homepage as a standalone tile — no Highlight required. Under Visibility, check Add to Home Screen, then set your Show From and Show Until dates to control when the tile appears. Once saved, the survey will show up on the Homepage during that window
    • Select Add to Home Screen, These settings only affect the app home screen. Position can be adjusted under Engage → App Home Screen, which you can navigate directly to by selecting 'App Home Screen' under the Add to Home Screen option. If this survey is linked from a highlight, work order, or elsewhere, users can still open it that way.
      • Adjust the Show From and Show Until Date and Time using the selector

  • Community Surveys support only two question types:
    • Multiple Choice (single-select)
    • Multi-checkbox (multi-select)

Community Surveys are also limited to a maximum of 3 questions.

Example: Neighborhood Amenities Survey

A property team wants to know which amenities residents use most and how satisfied the community feels overall. They create a Community Survey with two questions: a multi-checkbox question asking "Which community amenities do you use regularly?" (Gym, Pool, Clubhouse) and a multiple choice question asking "How would you rate your overall satisfaction with the community?" (Very Satisfied, Neutral, Not Satisfied). Once tenants respond, results appear right in the app — for example, tenants might see that 68% of residents use the Gym — helping reinforce a shared sense of community.

Tips for Survey Engagement

Surveys only work if people respond. Use these tips on engagement from SurveyMonkey's article "5 Ways to Get the Survey Data You Want."

  1. Go online. How to get people to take a survey starts by making it accessible to them. You're already doing this one by using Cove's Survey Feature!
  2. Keep your survey short. If respondents see that there are too many questions, they’ll be more inclined to leave several unanswered.
  3. Use survey incentives to motivate respondents to take your survey.
  4. Be clear and direct. Respondents won’t know how to fill out a survey if they don’t understand what’s being asked of them.
  5. Follow up with respondents. If respondents don’t think that you read through their feedback and took it into account, the question of how to get people to take a survey will become all the more challenging in the future.
